At T.W. Frierson Contractor, Inc., developing the next generation of construction leaders is just as important as delivering great projects. Our Field Mentor Program is a selective, multi-year leadership pipeline designed for high-performing field team members who demonstrate strong craft expertise, strong character, and alignment with our core values. Over the course of more than 2.5 years, participants progress through industry certifications, hands-on field milestones, and increasing leadership responsibilities, preparing them to step confidently into assistant superintendent roles and build long-term careers with the company.
At the heart of the program are our Senior Superintendents and Superintendents who serve as mentors, leaders who intentionally “pass the torch” by investing in the growth of others. Two of our current mentors exemplify this commitment.
David Turner is currently the Senior Superintendent at the NES Central Substation. He brings more than 40 years of industry experience and joined T.W. Frierson in 2022. His steady leadership and depth of field knowledge provide invaluable guidance to our emerging leaders.
Griffin Jones is currently the Superintendent at Cooper Christian Academy. He brings over 30 years of experience and has been part of the TWF team since 2005. His long-standing commitment to the company and passion for mentoring make him a trusted role model in the field.
Mentors like David and Griffin take on responsibilities beyond their day-to-day project demands, investing time in coaching, teaching, progress check-ins, and real-world skill development. Through hands-on guidance, they help mentees strengthen skills in scheduling, safety leadership, quality control, trade partner coordination, and team communication, while also modeling leadership rooted in humility, accountability, and care for others.
The Field Mentor Program exists to recognize those with leadership potential and to build a strong, sustainable pipeline of future superintendents. We are proud of the mentors who choose to share their experience, invest in others, and help shape the future of our organization and industry. Their commitment reinforces a core belief at T.W. Frierson: we don’t just build projects, we build people.
